Southeast Louisiana Council
Shoot, Swim & Climb

September 6-8, 2019

Presented by
Southeast Louisiana Council
Camping & Outdoor Programs Committee

The 6th annual Shoot, Swim & Climb. This event was a great success last year with almost 500 Scouts BSA & Venturers. It is sure to be bigger and better this year. All of the FUN activities of Summer Camp rolled into one day. We will open the pool, the climbing tower for climbing and rappelling, the rifle range with reactive targets, shotgun range with 3 trap houses, standard archery, sporting archery, canoes, kayaks, standup paddle boards and other water craft in the lake mountain bikes for "rent" and many other activities in between.

The activities are geared towards Scout and Venturing age youth only.  (We will not be able to provide activities appropriate for younger youth - please look for Fall Cub Encampment.)

The event is designed to be what we call FREE STYLE. This is an event with very limited scheduling. Scouts and Venturers will rotate between activities at their own pace selecting which activities they would like to participate in. Keep in mind that this is a very large event and there may be lines at some of the activities. In the case of a long line the Scouts can move on to another activity and return later when the lines are a little shorter.

We will serve lunch on Saturday at 12:00 in the dining hall. All other meals are the responsibility of the Unit. We will also have an ice cream party on Saturday night on the dining hall porch.

Units MUST use the online registration process. Please register as a Unit rather than individual registrations.

Units should arrive no earlier than 6:00p on the Friday night. Someone will be at the front gate to greet you and give you directions.

All Units should have Annual Health & Medical records for all campers, both youth and adult.

Upon arrival Units will check in at the administration building for a health form review.

Swim Checks will be available on Friday night between 6:00p and 8:30p. We will also accept the Unit Swim Classification Record available at https://www.scouting.org/filestore/Outdoor Program/Aquatics/pdf/430-122.pdf.

All youth participants that intend to participate in shooting sports, including archery, MUST attend a safety briefing at the activity area - where an armband will be issued.

Venturers & older Scouts interested in Venturing - there are three Venturer-only events being planned for Shoot, Swim, & Climb: 1) Friday night Venturer climbing & rappelling, 7:00p to 8:45p; 2) Saturday morning 8:30a to 9:30a Venturing COPE Activity at Tower; 3) Saturday night 7:00p to 9:00p Dive-In Movie at pool.

There is the opportunity to list campsite preference or No Campsite if only coming for the day) in the registration process. Please understand that due to the size of this event you may not get the site you requested. We have a lot of campers and a limited amount of space.

I am looking forward to serving you and hope everyone has a great time,

Y.I.S.

Cancellation Policy
The following policy statement is applicable to all council and district activities where a fee is collected by the Southeast Louisiana Council. Online convenience fees (if applicable) are not refundable. All activities are considered non-refundable, unless there is a medical emergency or a death in the immediate family. Refund requests will only be considered if made in writing. A service charge of twenty-five percent (25%) of the activity fee will be assessed on all refunds to cover the costs incurred in preparation of the activity and processing the refund. Written refund requests must be submitted prior to the start of any event. Any requests after the activity will be considered only for personal illness or family emergencies. No refund requests will be accepted after ten (10) days following the end of the activity. Consideration for a full (minus charges and costs incurred) refund will be considered for special hardship cases and for advanced-level training courses such as Wood Badge. For major activities that require a non-refundable deposit, such as council contingents to the National Jamboree and Philmont, a full refund less the non-refundable deposit will be considered based on the time of the request and the council’s ability to fill the slot with another participant. If the slot is not able to be filled, no refund will be available. No refunds of any fees are available until 30 days after the event. Refund checks will be issued to the individual or entity paying the original fee within 30 days of receipt of the request pending its approval. Fees are only transferable within the same unit to a Scout or adult leader not currently registered for that specific activity. If an activity is canceled or postponed due to weather, every effort will be made to reschedule the activity. If an activity is canceled and the participant cannot participate during the alternate date, the full fee will be refunded minus any service fees and costs incurred by the event prior to the cancellation. This amount may vary from event to event. Send all refund requests to the Program Director at: tracy.jones@scouting.org.
