Pat Denechaud, John F. Heaton, M.D., Wayne Tracy, and Richard Zuschlag

Thursday, July 20th – Reception 11:00 - Luncheon Noon – Audubon Tea Room

Patricia Denechaud - Pat is President and CEO of Crescent City Consultants and Honorary Consul of Canada in Louisiana. She serves on numerous community boards.  She is Founder of the New Orleans Affiliate of the Komen for the Cure Foundation.  She is on the board of the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce and served as first female Chairman.  She is past Chairman and member of the board of LSU Health Sciences Center Foundation.  Additionally, she is an Advisory Board member of the World Trade Center and was the organizations first female President. Pat has been a Co-Chair if the Pillars of Scouting event since it’s inception and was Chair of many Golden Eagle Luncheons prior to that.  Pat has raised well over a million dollars to support Scouting’s youth develop programs and is a member of the Southeast Louisiana Council Boy Scouts of America. 

John F. Heaton, M.D. - John is the President and Chief Medical Officer of LCMC Health. A graduate of Nicholls State University and the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, Dr. Heaton is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology. He also holds a Master of Medical Management degree from Carnegie Mellon University.  He joined the Children’s Hospital in 2000 as Chief Anesthesiologist and has been with the LCMC Health System since its origin. A longstanding clinical faculty member at both LSU and Tulane medical schools, Dr, Heaton is the recipient of the CIBA Community Service Award and the Chancellor’s Award from LSU School of Medicine and an Honorary Doctor of Science degree from Nicholls State University. He was a New Orleans CitiBusiness “Health Care Hero”, and has served on numerous community and professional boards, including the Southeast Louisiana Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Louisiana Physician’s Health Foundation, Coastal Conservation Association, the Medical Society of Southeast Louisiana, and the Orleans Parish Medical Society. Dr. Heaton served as a Major in the Army Reserve from 1987-2003. A proud Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow member, John served on the staff of Camp Salmen during the summers of 1976 and 1977.  Dr. Heaton and his wife Fran are the proud parents of 6 children and 6 grandchildren.

Wayne Tracy - Wayne joined Scouting at the age of 7 in 1956 as a Lion Cub Scout in Pack 222 of the Keystone District in Jefferson Parish. Wayne crossed over from Webelos to Troop 299 at Jefferson Presbyterian Church where he attained the rank of Life Scout, earned 23 merit badges, and served as its Senior Patrol Leader.  Like so many, Wayne missed doing his Eagle Project because the “fumes” got him.  He spent 3 years in the U.S. Navy.  He has served in multiple positions in various Scouting units including Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, and Cubmaster.  Currently, he serves on the Executive Board, is one of the council’s Assistant Council Commissioners, is the Training Chairman and District Commissioner for Pelican District.  He is Wood Badge trained and has served on multiple courses as a member of the staff and as Course Director in 2014.  He has earned the District Award of Merit, Distinguished Commissioner Award, Commissioner’s Arrowhead Honor, Scouter’s Training Award, and is a Silver Beaver.  Wayne is a lifetime member of Jefferson Post 267 of the American Legion and an ordained elder at John Calvin Presbyterian Church.  He is married to Judy, and they have 2 adult children, Erin and Kyle (Eagle Scout).

Richard E. Zuschlag – Richard is Chairman & CEO, Acadian Companies he is native of Greensville, Pennsylvania, graduated from the Capitol Institute of Technology in Washington, DC in 1970. While he was on assignment from Westinghouse, Richard found himself in the heart of Cajun Country—Lafayette, Louisiana. While there in 1971, still in his twenties, Richard Zuschlag joined with two friends to form a company that today is a national leader in the field of pre-hospital emergency medical care. Richard accepted the position of secretary-treasurer of a company that he and his partners, also in their twenties, organized to provide ambulance service in the Louisiana parish of Lafayette. Richard’s remarkable technical knowledge and skill in the field of communication have been the cornerstone of the company’s national leadership in that area. Today, the Acadian Ambulance Communications Center, with its unsurpassed computer technology and professional staffing, is a model for the nation.  Acadian Ambulance is a great partner of Scouting by offering Exploring programs to youth who have an interest in Emergency Medical Services careers.

Organization Facts - The Southeast Louisiana Council, Boy Scouts of America will provide youth development and leadership programs to approximately 4,000 young people in 11 parishes through Cub Scouting, Scouts BSA, Venturing, and Exploring programs during 2022. 

Funds raised from this event will provide:

Direct service to Cub Scout Packs, Scouts BSA Troops, Venture Crews, and Explorer Posts – Unit Organization, Youth Recruitment, Volunteer Training, Service to Volunteers, Staff Assistance

  • Program Services – Camping, Activities, Training, Insurance
  • Support Services – Office Support, Equipment, Salmen Scout Reservation and Camp V-Bar
  • Funds to help youth in need experience the wonderful opportunity Scouting provides

Pillars of Scouting Investment Levels:

  • $25,000 Investor -  (Eagle Scout) Two full tables (20 Guests), signage, listing in program and at 2 tables, 5 minutes at podium during lunch if desired.
  • $15,000 Reception Sponsor – One and a half tables (15 Guests), signage during the reception and recognition at the podium during the program 
  • $10,000 Investor - (Life Scout) – One and a half tables (15 Guests), signage, listing in program and table
  • $5,000 Investor - (Star Scout) – One full table (10 Guests), signage, listing in program and table
  • $2,500 Investor - (First Class Scout) – Partial table of 6 guests, a listing in program and table
  • $1,000 Investor - (Tenderfoot Scout)  – 4 guests, and a listing in program
  • $500 Investor -  (Scout) – 2 guests and a listing in program
  • Cub investor  –Attend event, must RSVP, invest in Scouting – request consideration of $100+
    • 10 seats at each table

Sponsors are encouraged to bring guests to enjoy the program who might consider making an investment in Scouting’s youth development programs
