IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR SCOUTS TO PREPARE FOR CLASSES
ALL SCOUTS SHOULD ENSURE TO PRINT A COPY OF THE MERIT BADGE WORKSHEET FROM THE FOLLOWING LINK PRIOR TO HIS OR HER CLASS AND HAVE SUCH WORKSHEET AVAILABLE DURING THE RESPECTIVE CLASS: http://usscouts.org/mb/worksheets/list.asp

***PLEASE ENSURE YOUR SCOUTS READ OR OTHERWISE UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION WELL IN ADVANCE OF THE COLLEGE TO ENSURE THAT THEY HAVE THE BEST OPPORTUNITY TO COMPLETE THE RESPECTIVE MERIT BADGES REQUIREMENTS.

ARCHITECTURE
Scouts must have graph paper and pencils with erasers available for use during the class.

CITIZENSHIP IN THE COMMUNITY
Requirement 7: Please do this with your Scoutmaster and have him or her sign off on the requirements either before or after the Merit Badge College.

Requirement 8: Please prepare beforehand. You will have two minutes each to present. If a speech, create at a minimum a one standard size page (8.5" by 11') poster with a picture and important points you wish to emphasize on it.  You can hold this up while you talk, if you have a camera, or you can share it on Zoom.

ELECTRICITY
Leaders should ensure to supply good contact information during registration as the counselor will need your assistance prior to the College to distribute a survey (to determine in broad strokes the range of knowledge and experience with electricity to allow the instructor to determine at what level to teach), a home inspection checklist (to be worked on before class), and supplies (to be used during the class) to each Scout enrolling in the Electricity Merit Badge class.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
This merit badge contains certain requirements that will need to be verified by a Scout’s leaders either prior to or after the class. Please review the requirements prior to the class and, if you have any questions, please discuss with the counselor after the class.

GENEALOGY
Parents: Each Scout needs to interview a parent or grandparent to obtain information to fill out your pedigree chart or your family group sheets in the Pedigree Chart and the Family Group Record Sheet at the following link: http://usscouts.org/mb/worksheets/Genealogy.pdf.  Please help your Scout fill in as much information on the forms as soon as possible before the class.

Scouts: Please obtain a document such as a birth certificate or a marriage certificate or a death certificate or some genealogical document that can be used to fill out your Pedigree Chart and Family Group Record Sheet at the link above. Also, please interview a parent or grandparent to obtain information to fill out your Pedigree Chart and your Family Group Record Sheets. Completing as much of this information as possible prior to the class will help you complete the Genealogy Merit Badge.

PERSONAL MANAGEMENT

LATE REGISTRATION ON DATE OF EVENT - Scouts will not be permitted to register after the online registration closes including on the date of the event.  This activity is for Scouts from Fleur de Lis District. Troops or Scouts from other districts will be allowed if availability exists.

SCHEDULE OF DAY'S EVENTS
Note: Merit badge classes may be cancelled on the day of the event if the counselor cannot attend at the last minute or if an insufficient number of Scouts sign up in advance.  This situation does not happen often, but, in the event of a cancellation, Scouts may take other badges.

8:45 a.m.: Opening Ceremony: A brief opening ceremony will take place via Zoom prior to the first morning classes.  Scouts will be pre-assigned to breakout rooms via Zoom per prior registration information.

9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.: Merit badge classes held via Zoom breakout rooms as per schedule and prior registration.

12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.: Life to Eagle Seminar will be held. Scouts should register this year to be assigned to the appropriate breakout room for this seminar.

All final paperwork must be returned to a counselor as instructed so that counselors may begin grading the Scouts and completing the merit badge forms. In addition,  Scouts remain responsible for joining via virtual connection in a timely manner to be transferred to their breakout rooms and for ensuring the counselor credits him or her with having attended the class.

Each Scoutmaster or designated leader will receive a list of the Scouts and the requirements completed for each merit badge. For those troops who would like completed merit badge cards, Scouts should make arrangements via e-mail with the counselor to obtain a completed card.  Counselors should return the completed card to the Scout at the end of class.  For those Scouts requiring one, it remains the Scout’s responsibility to arrange for the card to be signed and returned. The Scout should give the signed card to his or her Scoutmaster or Troop Advancement Chair.
