Patriot's Path Volunteers Assist with Rebuilding!
40 volunteers and staff from Patriot’s Path Council in Florham Park, NJ came to our council on March 20-25 to “Do A Good Turn” for New Orleans and the Southeast Louisiana Council. During their visit much was accomplished including: spending a day riding with our district executives making calls on potential new unit partner organizations, working on care packages with the Red Cross and most exciting of all; providing skilled manpower to assist in the major rebuilding effort of our Old Ranger’s home for our assistant ranger at camp. On Wednesday of their visit, our New Jersey friends were treated to some excellent New Orleans cuisine as part of a reception at the Scout Service Center. Patriot’s Path Council Scout Executive, Dennis Kohl stated that he hoped that this type of event could create a long term relationship between our councils. If you or your unit would like to send a thank-you note to their council for all of their work, you can e-mail the Scout Executive at dennis.kohl@scouting.org

Webelos Adventure Camp June 28- July 21
Webelos Scout Adventure Camp offers your Webelos Scouts an outstanding opportunity for advancement while he is having fun and making new friends. We encourage you and your Pack to make plans to attend “Akela's Excellent Scouting Adventure” Webelos Residence Camp at Salmen Scout Reservation this summer.
Our Summer Camp Staff and Camp Leaders will “Explore New Adventures” to train and prepare for this special week of Webelos Scout Adventure Camp. We are fortunate to have an excellent camping facility and the best program opportunity available for our Cub and leaders.
This Leader’s Guide has been developed to help you properly plan and prepare your Webelos Scouts, leaders and parents for an exciting four days at Camp V-Bar. Click here to download the guidebook and registration forms - online registration is not available for this event. It is very important that you take time to read the entire guide as it contains answers to many of your questions and concerns. It is important to read this guide thoroughly: since for many of you this may be the first time you and your Scout have ever participated in a long-term camping experience. Living in camp is a lot different from attending Day Camp. We all have to share the facilities and demonstrate Scout Spirit (i.e., cooperation, flexibility, and patience). When all of us practice these principals, we can guarantee a positive experience for all. Our pledge is to make this a most memorable experience for you and your Scout.
Begin your plans and preparations for a great summer camp experience. Best wishes for an outstanding and adventurous experience at Camp V-Bar. We look forward to seeing you real soon!

Youth Protection Training
Scouting is all about helping young people lead productive, value driven lives. However, the most important thing we do as adult lea, ders is not to teach them to tie a knot or shoot a bow and arrow. The most important thing we do is making sure while they are doing scouting they remain safe. Safe from injury, safe from serious accident, and yes safe from others who presence we need to protect our children from. Scouting for many years as offered Youth Protection Training to all adult leaders as well as parents and others who find themselves in leadership roles with these precious young people. A new version of Youth Protection Training is available on line at our Council website ( www.bsa-selacouncil.org ) and can be found by going to the training tab and creating a MyScouting account. If you have never completed the training, make a commitment to get in completed this month. If it’s been over a year since you last took the training, it might be well to go through it again as a refresher. While completing of the course should automatically update your training record, some web browsers are not as compatible with the training as others. We recommend that whenever you complete an online training course that you shoot an email to sela@bsamail.org indicating your name, unit number and the course that you completed so we can make sure y, our training record is up to date.
