The success of a youth-led unit rests on well-trained youth leaders that understand the principles
of leadership. We can help strengthen your unit by training qualified youth at Southeast Louisiana
Council’s 2019 National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT). The course will be held over 6 days at
Camp V-Bar in Perkinston, Mississippi, from Friday, June 28 to Wednesday, July 3. The cost for the
course is only $200 ($175 early bird if registered by May 23, 2019 ). Course fees increase by $25
if payment received after May 24, 2019.

NYLT is an exciting, action-packed, high-energy course full of Scouting skills, advanced leadership
training, team building and fun. The goal is to return the Youth to their units as noticeably
better scouts and leaders. The leadership skills taught are universal and can be applied to their
ambitions outside of the Scouting program.

The requirements to attend are as follows:

•Be at least 13 years of age, but not yet 18 by day one of the course
•Have obtained rank of First Class or higher
•Hold a current Leadership Position or will be a candidate in the immediate future
•Have completed Troop Leadership Training (ILST)
•Have Parental and Scoutmaster approval
•For 2019 only, an exception will be granted for girls registered in Scouts BSA to attend NYLT
without first achieving the First Class rank. Boys registered in Scouts BSA will still be required
to earn the First Class rank before attending NYLT.

•Have each interested qualifying candidate, Scoutmaster or parent complete online registration

Space for NYLT is limited to the first 36 registrants paid in full, so apply as early as possible.
Personal resource questionnaires, Code of Conduct, and equipment lists will be mailed to each
participant after their registration is received. It is suggested that units consider setting aside
a partial scholarship for youth interested in attending provided they serve in a leadership
capacity in the unit.

Refund requests will only be considered if made in writing. A service charge of twenty-five percent (25%) of the activity fee will be assessed on all refunds to cover the costs incurred in preparation of the activity and processing the refund. Written refund requests must be submitted prior to the start of any event. Any requests after the activity will be considered only for personal illness or family emergencies. No refund requests will be accepted after ten (10) days following the end of the activity. Fees are only transferable within the same unit to a Scout or adult leader not currently registered for that specific activity. If an activity is canceled or postponed due to weather, every effort will be made to reschedule the activity. If an activity is canceled and the participant cannot participate during the alternate date, the full fee will be refunded minus any service fees and costs incurred by the event prior to the cancellation. This amount may vary from event to event. Send all refund requests to the Program Director at:
