DESCRIPTION:Southeast Louisiana Council \n  \n Shoot, Swim &amp; Climb - September 7, 2024 \n  \n  \n Presented by \n  \n Southeast Louisiana Council \n  \n Camping &amp; Outdoor Programs Committee \n  \n  \n   \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n The 10th annual Shoot, Swim &amp; Climb at Camp V-Bar. Last year was a fantastic success!  It is going to be bigger and better this year. All of the FUN activities of Summer Camp rolled into one day. The shooting ranges, the pool &amp; lake front, and the climbing tower will all be open.  Be sure to get a cold drink in the Trading Post. \n  \n Scouts will be able to participate in a variety of activities, including: \n  \n  \n  \n 	reactive target shooting \n 	 \n 	shotgun range with 3 trap houses  \n  \n 	 \n 	 \n 	archery \n  \n 	 \n 	 \n 	canoeing, kayaking, standup paddle boarding and sailing in the lake \n  \n 	 \n 	 \n 	climbing and rappelling \n  \n 	 \n 	 \n 	mountain bikes for &quot;rent&quot; \n  \n 	 \n  \n  \n Additional activities for 2024: \n  \n  \n  \n 	table-top gaming in Training Center - a variety available, or bring your own \n 	garden chess \n 	trading post  \n 	volley-ball in the quad \n 	fishing \n 	Dive-In Movie - hosted by the Sea Scouts \n 	Ice Cream Social - hosted by the Order of the Arrow \n  \n  \n The activities are geared towards Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts &amp; Explorer Post age youth only.  (We are unable to provide activities appropriate for younger youth - please look for Cub Haunted Forest later in the fall.) \n  \n  \n The event is designed to be what we call FREE STYLE. This is an event with very limited scheduling. Scouts BSA, Venturers, Sea Scouts &amp; Explorers will rotate between activities at their own pace selecting which activities they would like to participate in. Keep in mind that this is a very large event and there may be lines at some of the activities. In the case of a long line the scouts can move on to another activity and return later when the lines are a little shorter.  \n  \n  \n Click Here First for Campsite availability / capacity. \n  \n  \n Particulars: \n  \n  \n  \n 	Meals: \n  \n 	 \n 		We will serve lunch on Saturday at 12:00 in the dining hall.  \n 		All other meals are the responsibility of the Unit.  \n 	 \n 	 \n 	Registration \n 	 \n 		Units MUST use the online registration process. Please register as a Unit rather than multiple individual registrations. \n 		Campsite selection - use the link above to see how many campers have already asked for each campsite.  Please understand that you may not get the site you requested.  We have a lot of campers, and a limited amount of space. \n 		Day Only - just coming up for the day?  Select &quot;No Campsite - Day Only&quot; \n 	 \n 	 \n 	Arrival \n 	 \n 		Units should arrive no earlier than 6:00p on the Friday night. Someone will be at the front gate to greet you and give you directions. \n 		&acirc;&Acirc;&Acirc;&Acirc;&Acirc;Units arriving late Friday (after ~9:00p) or on Saturday should check in at the Administration building in the center of camp&acirc;&Acirc;&Acirc;&Acirc;&Acirc;  \n 		All Units should have Annual Health &amp; Medical Records (Parts A &amp; B only are required) for all campers, both youth and adults \n 	 \n 	 \n 	Shooting \n 	 \n 		All shooting participants will attend a safety briefing when they first come to the ranges, where they will then receive an armband.   \n 	 \n 	 \n 	Swimming \n 	 \n 		Swim Checks will be done on Saturday at the pool. \n 		Pro Tip - collect the buddy tags at the end of summer camp!  These are valid for 1 year. \n 		Unit Swim Classification Records are also accepted (https://www.scouting.org/filestore/Outdoor Program/Aquatics/pdf/430-122.pdf). \n 	 \n 	 \n 	Climbing \n 	 \n 		All climbers will have their health form reviewed.  Leaders should group climbers with health concerns (e.g. wasp allergies or restrictions on strenuous activities) first to expedite the review.
