We need additional NRA Range Safety Officers and NRA Instructors to continue to conduct our shooting programs in the Council. The Shooting Sports Committee has scheduled the following NRA Range Safety Officer and NRA Instructor classes to train additional personnel. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n NRA Range Safety Officer Training \n  \n Saturday September 26, 2026 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM \n  \n  \n  \n  \n   \n  \n  \n NRA Basic Instructor Training \n  \n Sunday, September 27, 2026 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM \n  \n  \n  \n  \n NRA Basic Rifle and Instructor Training \n  \n Friday, October 9, 2026 6:00 PM - Sunday, October 11, 2026  \n  \n   \n  \n  \n NRA Basic Shotgun and Instructor Training \n  \n Friday, November 13, 6:00 PM thru Sunday, November 15 \n  \n December 15th \n  \n  \n  \n  \n Location: \n  \n (All classes) \n  \n Salmen Scout Reservation 27585 V-Bar Road Perkinston, MS 39573 \n  \n  \n  \n  \n NRA Instructor Training is for experienced shooters. Your rifle and/or shotgun shooting skills and experience will be reviewed and demonstrated as a part of the qualification process.  Knowing how to shoot is an important requirement for NRA instructors, but you will also need to know how to teach others to shoot. NRA Instructor Training Courses help you develop the additional knowledge, skills and attitude needed to organize and teach others. \n  \n  \n In order to become an NRA instructor and/or NRA Range Safety Officer, you must complete the following: \n  \n  \n NRA Range Safety Officer: NRA Range Safety Officer Training Class \n  \n  \n NRA Instructor: \n  \n • NRA Basic Instructor Training (prerequisite for any Instructor Training), and one or both of the following shooting disciplines: \n  \n • Rifle Instructor (includes Basic Rifle Instruction, Rifle Shooting Qualification and Rifle Instructor Training) \n  \n • Shotgun Instructor (includes Basic Shotgun Instruction, Shotgun Shooting Qualification and Shotgun Instructor Training) \n  \n  \n You must successfully complete Basic Instructor Training and the discipline specific (rifle or shotgun) Training series to become an NRA instructor. \n  \n  \n   \n  \n  \n Registration: \n  \n You must register online for these courses.
