Welcome back! Back to camping, back to summer, and Back to V-Bar!
This past year has been difficult on all of us. Our Scouts have not been permitted to go camping, service projects are difficult to plan, no scouts were color guard for parades, troop meetings have been virtual, and we have all had to adapt to delivering scouting in unique ways.
But there is light on the horizon. As a society, we are adapting. We have new vaccines coming available. We have a year’s worth of experience at mitigating the risks. And summer is approaching, with its typically decreased risk.
Your Summer Camp staff is eager to get back to camp, and even more eager to have your Scouts return to that quintessential scouting experience – summer camp.
There will some changes from previous years. We do not know what all of the SELA Council, National Council, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Federal guidelines we will have to adhere to, but we are doing our best to plan for them.
Expect the following:
1. All units will provide their own tents, and have only one person per tent.
2. If anyone is sick, has a fever, isn’t feeling well, been exposed to someone with COVID recently, etc. please STAY AT HOME.
3. Temperature / Health checks immediately upon arriving at camp
4. Modified procedures while at camp
5. Reduced session sizes
6. Enhanced cleaning while at camp
(All of the above subject to changes / modifications / additions depending upon circumstances.)
Nestled in the pine trees and red clay dunes surrounding Morning Glory Lake in rural Mississippi lies the magnificent Scouts BSA Camp, Salmen Scout Reservation, commonly referred to as "Camp V-bar". Beginning on Sunday going through Saturday, Scouts and Leaders are going to be embarking on Camp for fun and adventure at the Annual Scouts BSA Summer Camp. This year's theme will be "Game Shows!".
There will be a great and enthusiastic program ensuring that everyone has fun.
