Every Scout should learn the value of hard work and earning their own way. The popcorn sale is the perfect opportunity to teach this valuable life lesson and fund the most exciting year of Scouting ever. More than 70% of the popcorn sale supports your programs and local Scouting! The Southeast Louisiana Council does all the pre-work to set up the sale, eliminating the need for your unit to research opportunities, calculate returns, create sales and promotional materials, manage a relationship with a vendor, and more.

Overcoming the Cost of Scouting by Promoting the Popcorn Sale

?? For Parents:

Make Scouting Affordable — Even Free — with Our Popcorn Sale!

We understand that cost can be a concern when deciding to join Scouting. That’s why the Southeast Louisiana Council offers families a powerful solution: the annual Scouting Popcorn Sale.

By participating in this fun and structured fundraiser, your child can earn enough to cover the full cost of Scouting for the year—including registration fees, uniforms, activities, and even summer camp. We’ll help you create a simple budget and provide the tools and training your Scout needs to succeed.

This is more than a fundraiser—it’s a chance for your child to learn goal-setting, responsibility, and communication skills, all while ensuring your family enjoys a full year of Scouting at little to no out-of-pocket cost.

Let us show you how Scouting can be affordable—and empowering!

?? For Volunteer Leaders:

Empower Every Family: Promote Popcorn to Eliminate Cost Barriers

As Scouting leaders, we know the life-changing impact our program has on youth. But for many families, the perceived cost of Scouting is a barrier to joining or staying involved. We can change that.

The SELA Council Popcorn Sale is more than a fundraiser—it’s the single most effective tool we have to make Scouting financially accessible to every family. By encouraging 100% participation and helping families build a simple sales-based budget, we can empower Scouts to pay their own way through the program.

It’s a leadership opportunity for Scouts, a family engagement tool, and a proven way to grow and retain membership. When we promote the sale as the solution—not an obligation—we turn a financial concern into a growth opportunity for our units and our Scouts.

Let’s lead the way in showing that Scouting can truly be for every family.

The popcorn sale is not just about selling popcorn. It’s also about promoting Scouting!

Every fall, Scouts from all over our council will be selling popcorn.  Start planning for your unit sale now!  For more information, contact Kristie Spinelli.
