Merit Badge Counselor Registration

If you wish to register with the Southeast Louisiana Council to be an Approved Merit Badge Counselor, you must complete the following:

  • BSA Youth Protection Training.  {Note: In order to maintain current membership in the Boy Scouts of America, you must take BSA online Youth Protection Training every 2 years.} 

 Online Youth Protection Training

  • Complete and sign a Criminal Background Check Form
  • Complete a BSA Adult Leader Application with a position of "042" or “Merit Badge Counselor” identified.

  • Complete a Merit Badge Counselor Form with your contact information including email address and the enlisted merit badges identified.

Send the completed BSA Adult Application, criminal Background Check Form and Merit Badge Application Form to the Council Service Center.  The Council Service Center will get with the respective District Advancement Team for Merit Badge Approvals.  Once approval is received the registration will be entered into MyScouting.org.
