Protective Order of the Brush and Hammar
(POOBAH)
Many, many, many years ago, the Council had a group of mostly retired volunteers who created a group called the Protective Order of the Brush and Hammer or POOBAH. For their mission, the group assisted the Council with smaller projects while getting together for fellowship as an older group of Scouters. When Council had a paper newsletter, POOBAH members came together and placed mailing labels on the newsletters. Later on, Council had a bunch of chairs that needed repairing and members gathered in the conference room to fix them. POOBAH members also went to camp where the Camp Ranger Pat Necaise gave them projects to complete that did not take a lot of time but that could be accomplished by a small group quickly.
The goal is to work directly with the Properties Committee to determine projects to be passed along to the POOBAH group. POOBAH work days at Salmen Scout Reservation are listed below, and POOBAH members are invited to participate. Arrive by 9:00 a.m. and leave by 3:00 p.m.
If you are a retired Scouter or just have extra time on your hands and may be looking for a way to fellowship with other Scouters while using skills or even gaining skills, please send an e-mail to Francis Exposito, our Grand POOBAH, at visipaque24@gmail.com. Members of POOBAH will receive a POOBAH hat!
