Shoot, Swim & Climb - September 9, 2023
Presented by
Southeast Louisiana Council
Camping & Outdoor Programs Committee
The 9th annual Shoot, Swim & Climb. Last year was a fantastic success! It is going to be bigger and better this year. All of the FUN activities of Summer Camp rolled into one day. The shooting ranges, the pool & lake front, and the climbing tower will all be open.
Scouts will be able to participate in a variety of activities, including:
- reactive target shooting
-
shotgun range with 3 trap houses
-
archery
-
canoeing, kayaking, standup paddle boarding and sailing in the lake
-
climbing and rappelling
-
mountain bikes for "rent"
Additional activities for 2023:
- Table-top gaming in Training Center - a variety available, or bring your own
-
The activities are geared towards Scout, Venturing, Sea Scouts & Explorer Post age youth only. (We are unable to provide activities appropriate for younger youth - please look for Cub Haunted Forest later in the fall.)
The event is designed to be what we call FREE STYLE. This is an event with very limited scheduling. Scouts, Venturers, Sea Scouts & Explorers will rotate between activities at their own pace selecting which activities they would like to participate in. Keep in mind that this is a very large event and there may be lines at some of the activities. In the case of a long line the Scouts can move on to another activity and return later when the lines are a little shorter.

- Arrival
- Units should arrive no earlier than 6:00p on the Friday night. Someone will be at the front gate to greet you and give you directions.
- Units arriving late Friday (after ~9:00p) or on Saturday should check in at the Administration building in the center of camp
- All Units should have Annual Health & Medical Records (Parts A & B only are required) for all campers, both youth and adults
- Shooting
- All shooting participants will attend a safety briefing when they first come to the ranges, where they will then receive an armband.

- All climbers will have their health form reviewed. Leaders should group climbers with health concerns (e.g. wasp allergies or restrictions on strenuous activities) first to expedite the review. Climbers will be given an armband to indicate the medical review.
- Climbers without an armband should bring their AHMR for review when they first come to the Tower, and receive an armband.
